My Jeeps

I bought my first Jeep because I wanted a cheap convertible. I was ignorant like most and had no idea of the legendary history of this incredible vehicle and just how unique and different it was from anything else. I had several nice cars and motorcycles before my first Jeep, they were all fast and cool, but the slow and boxy Jeep soon became my favourite.

The first year after purchasing the Jeep, my wife and I attended our first Jeep Jamboree with a nice shiny new Jeep. We were both blown away as the Jeep plowed through deep mud holes, climbed over boulders and crawled up steep slippery hills as easy as a normal car travels down the highway. However, by the end of that first day we both had headaches from the stress that the Jeep was certainly damaged from the abuse, but in fact the Jeep was perfectly fine and kinda looked cool all covered in mud.

I soon came to realize that the Jeep wasn't built for the roads and then modified for offroading like most vehicles. The Jeep had been conceived and designed to be an offroad machine from its very beginning. Only over the years has it been modified to a be a little more comfortable with heaters, powered wipers, etc. Yet at its core the Jeep has remained true to its heritage as a rugged offroad warrior.

Well after the first Jamboree experience, my "cheap convertible" quickly become an expensive addiction as the upgrade fever began. Each year I wanted a little more for the Jeep, a taller lift, some bigger tires, heavy duty bumpers, a winch, a CB radio, and the list goes on and on. Over the years I have done some serious modifications to my Jeeps as you can see from the pictures and information below. However, my current 2011 Black Ops Jeep Rubicon is stock... For now...

So what exactly is my fascination or as some might say "addiction" with Jeeps? Well, I could tell you that my Jeep "addiction" is fueled by the fun I have driving it with the top down and no doors on a beautiful summer day, or the adventure of trekking into the wilderness with a rugged dependable Jeep, or the great fellow Jeepers I've befriended along the way, or even the pride in owning a vehicle with such an iconic history, but unless you've owned and wheeled a Jeep... Well as the saying goes, "It's a Jeep Thing! You Wouldn't Understand."

Below are details of modifications and a few favourite photos of my Jeeps. For more photos of my offroading adventures, check out My Pics page.

My Current Jeep a 2011 Black Ops Jeep Rubicon

This is my 3rd Jeep Wrangler and so far the most comfortable and capable right off the showroom floor. I have plans to upgrade this Jeep as well, however my goal is to build it be a better mix between offroad beast and onroad daily driver. We'll see how that goes...
